Production Capability Creation (PCC) for Collaborative Construction Projects – A Qualitative Study From Finland

The construction industry has been suffering from modest productivity development in recent decades. To address the recognized problems, collaborative delivery methods are replacing traditional project models, especially large and complex projects.The aim of this research is to describe production capability creation (PCC) process as a solution for planning phase. PCC should be implemented parallel design phase owned by production. A qualitative inductive approach, based primarily on case company interviews, applied identify twelve most important challenges preplanning group different types stakeholders projects. Based these challenges, main areas structured, solving depicted enabling wasteless cost-efficient avoid unnecessary delays problems. Parallel implementation processes building naturally also improve result itself. With PCC, contractors can recognize need improvement their but, more importantly, directly contribute building.
